These early cellphones are 0G phones or Zero Generation phones. In 1996, Motorola introduced StarTAC as a clamshell (flip-style) mobile phone. It was a 2G phone with a monochrome graphic display with a resolution of 4×15 characters.

The phone has a 500mAh battery, mono ringtones, and vibration alerts. In 2011 it was divided into two independent public companies, Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions, after losing $4.3 billion between 2007 and 2009.

Nokia was the top global vendor of mobile phones and smartphones for a decade, beginning in 1998. However, following cooperation with Microsoft and Nokia’s subsequent market troubles, Microsoft purchased its mobile phone business in 2014, renaming it Microsoft Mobile.

Nokia used to be once the largest mobile phone manufacturer, but it has fallen behind because of the iPhone and Android handsets.

Nevertheless, Nokia will always be a part of the history of mobile phones. First, Nokia introduced the smash-hit Snake II mobile game. Then, Nokia’s first mobile phone, the “Mobira Cityman 900,” was released in 1987 for NMT–900 networks. As a result, there was a more robust signal strength but less coverage than the NMT – 450.

Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest information technology business, consumer electronics manufacturer, and chipmaker by revenue in 2017, is a notable Samsung industrial affiliate.

Samsung Electronics now manufactures a wide range of products, including televisions and semiconductors. It was the first Android smartphone to be introduced in 2009, and it was also the first Android tablet to be released in 2010.

It is the most valuable corporation on the planet, the fourth-largest PC vendor by unit sales, and the fourth-largest smartphone maker, Amazon, Alphabet (Google), Meta (Facebook), and Microsoft, one of the Big Five American information technology corporations.

In 1976 Apple was founded by Steve Jobs, Ronald Wayne, and Steve Wozniak to manufacture and sell Wozniak’s Apple I personal computer. Apple is the world’s most valuable firm and the most significant information technology company, with a revenue of $274.5 billion in 2020.

Apple is the fourth-largest PC vendor by unit sales and the fourth-largest smartphone manufacturer as of 2021.

Apple Inc.’s iPhone is a line of smartphones that run on Apple’s iOS mobile operating system and are designed and marketed. In 2007, Steve Jobs, then-CEO of Apple, launched the first-generation iPhone. Apple has released new iPhone models and iOS improvements every year since then.

Huawei overcame Samsung and Apple to become the world’s top smartphone brand (by the number of phones shipped) for the first time in 2020. Huawei founded their handset branch in 2003, and by 2004, they had sent their first phone, the C300.

In June 2005, Huawei released the U626 as its first 3G phone, then in 2006, Huawei released the V710 as the first Vodafone-branded 3G handset. Huawei’s first Android smartphone, the U8220, was launched at MWC 2009.

As of the first quarter of 2019, Huawei is the world’s second-largest smartphone manufacturer, after only Samsung. Huawei’s phone lineup comprises high-end smartphones, such as the Huawei Mate and Huawei P series, and budget phones, such as the Honor brand.

Huawei, a Chinese technology behemoth, is one of the industry’s behemoths. It’s the world’s largest telecoms equipment manufacturer, a pioneer in next-generation 5G technology, and it surpassed Apple to become the world’s second-largest smartphone seller last year. 

Oppo

OPPO Electronics Corp. is a Chinese consumer electronics and mobile communications firm. Smartphones, intelligent devices, audio devices, power banks, and other electrical products are among its main product categories.

In China, the brand “Oppo” was registered in 2001 and introduced in 2004. The company has grown to 50 nations since then. OPPO became China’s leading smartphone manufacturer in 2016. In 2019, OPPO was the most popular smartphone brand in China, with a global market share of No. 5.

Oppo is notable because its reach is rapidly expanding, with various devices available at various pricing points.

It may not be the same as Samsung, Apple, or even Chinese competitors like Xiaomi and Huawei, but its popularity is growing, and we predict big things from the firm in 2021 and beyond.

Oppo was created in 2004 and initially focused on the audio device market. In addition, the company has kept a hand in the audio and home theater industry.

Oppo released their first mobile phone in 2008, a unique product due to the cheerful face on the back.

Vivo

Vivo Mobile Communications Co., Ltd. is a Chinese mobile phone company. Vivo Communication Technology Company Ltd. is a Chinese technology firm that designs and develops smartphones, smartphone accessories, software, and online services.

The firm creates software for its phones, which it sells through its V-Appstore, with iManager incorporated in its Android-based operating system. Vivo is a self-contained corporation that makes its products. Vivo was founded in 2009.

The company began expanding worldwide in 2014 when it entered the Thai market. VIVO phones aren’t bad; they’re relatively decent, especially if you go for the flagship and mid-range models.

VIVO’s quality control and finesse improved substantially from roughly 2018 forward. It now produces some of the most robust and reliable phones on the market at this pricing point.

Vivo is a Chinese electronics firm formed by Shen Wei in 2009 and headquartered in Dongguan. Vivo designs and sells smartphones, software, and phone accessories and is owned by BBK Electronics.

Xiaomi

Xiaomi Corporation, known as Xiaomi Inc., is a Chinese consumer electronics and software innovator and manufacturer. It is the second-largest smartphone manufacturer behind Samsung.

Xiaomi was launched in 2010 by multi-billionaire Lei Jun and six senior partners when he was 40 years old.

According to Canalys, Xiaomi beat Apple Inc. to become the world’s second-largest smartphone vendor of 2021, with a 17 percent market share. Xiaomi is a private firm that develops, manufactures, and sells smartphones, Android-based operating systems, and other consumer devices.

Xiaomi makes fitness trackers, TVs, air purifiers, and tablets, among other things. Its Android phones and tablets have skin. Xiaomi phones, despite being a relative newcomer to the sector, often boast outstanding performance and features at cheaper pricing than you’d anticipate. 

OnePlus

OnePlus Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. is a consumer electronics company based in Shenzhen, China. It was launched in 2013 by Pete Lau and Carl Pei. It is currently majority-owned by Oppo, a subsidiary of BBK Electronics, together with Vivo, Realme.

The company is known for developing cellphones, and as of July 2018, it serves 34 nations and territories worldwide. Former vice-president of Oppo Pete Lau and Carl Pei started OnePlus in 2013.

The main goal for the company was to create a smartphone that would combine high-end quality with a lower price. In 2014, the firm introduced its first handset, the OnePlus One, which was designed to compete with Google’s Nexus series.

The firm is one of three subsidiaries BKK Electronics, the other two being Oppo and Vivo. In terms of Android operating systems, OnePlus is one of the most dependable companies. Moreover, each phone has a vibrant community, from the OnePlus 1 to the OnePlus 5.

Realme

Realme Chongqing Mobile Telecommunications Corporation, Ltd. is a Shenzhen-based smartphone maker. Sky Li, the founder of Realme and a former president of Oppo, is also a former president of Oppo. RealMe is a well-known smartphone manufacturer.

It was a Chinese smartphone company. Realme made its debut in China in 2010 under the moniker “OPPO Real.” Before its establishment as a spinoff on May 4, 2018, it was a sub-brand of OPPO, a subsidiary of BBK Electronics. Realme unveiled a new logo on November 15, 2018.

Realme entered the Indian market as an emerging brand on November 22, 2018. Realme has since eclipsed Oppo in India in terms of device sales. Since 2019, Realme has been India’s fourth-largest smartphone brand, trailing Xiaomi, Samsung, and Vivo.

Realme records the fastest-charging smartphone and India’s first 5G smartphone. It is currently an Indian enterprise with its manufacturing.
