Best-selling Cars in 2023

For the first time ever in history, the most popular new car model across the world was electric with Tesla leading the way in 2023.

Tesla Model Y outsells Toyota Corolla with 1.2 million units sold. Toyota Corolla was in second place with 1.15 million sales. The RAV4 came in third with 0.93 million buyers.

Overall, global car sales grew to approximately 75.3 million units in 2023, up from 67.3 million in 2022. Toyota Corolla models were purchased by more than one million car shoppers, making it the second most popular car in the world in 2023.
