1. India

They have been the largest producer of mangoes for a very long time. India has produced 18,454,498 Tons of mangoes in 2020.

More than 30% of the global mango production is done in India. Andhra Pradesh, Gujrat, Maharashtra are the most popular regions for mango production.

India has dedicated over 2 million acres of land for mango farming. Mango production contributes significantly towards the export of India.

2. China

The second-largest producer of mangoes is China. China has produced 4,770,133 Tons of mangoes in 2020. Mangoes have been cultivated in China for centuries. However, the commercial production of mangoes began in the 1960s.

The southern regions of China account for the majority of the mango production in China. The temperature is warmer there which is ideal for mango production. Japan is the biggest importer of mangoes that are produced in China.

3. Thailand

In 2020, Thailand has produced 3,634,367 Tons of mango. This makes them the third-largest producer of mangoes in the world. Thailand is the largest exporter of mangoes in the world.

Thailand have exported mangoes worth $734 million in the fiscal area of 2020-2021.

There are over 750,000 acres of land in Indonesia dedicated to producing mangoes. Malaysia and Singapore import mangoes from Thailand.

4. Mexico

Mexico earns the spot of the fourth-largest producer of mangoes by producing 2,266,471 Tons of mangoes. Most of the mangoes are grown in Southern Mexico as the climate is slightly warmer in those regions.

Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Michoacan, Veracruz and Chiapas are the most popular states for growing and exporting mangoes.

5. Indonesia

Indonesia is the fifth largest producer of mangoes. They have produced 2,156,817 Tons of mangoes in 2020.

South Sulawesi, South East Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara are the popular zones for mango production in Indonesia. Harumanis, Manalagi, Golek, Lalijiwo are the common mango varieties available in Indonesia.

Taiwan and Singapore heavily import mangoes from Indonesia. 

6. Brazil

Coming in at number six is Brazil with a production of 1,635,298 Tons. There are tropical regions in Brazil that are suitable for the production of mangoes. Brazil is among the top producers of mangoes in South America.

More than 50% of the total mango production in Brazil is done in the northeast region. Kent Ataulfo and Tommy Atkins are the three most common varieties of mangoes available in Brazil.

7. Pakistan

We are back in Asia and coming in at number 7 in India’s neighboring country- Pakistan. Pakistan has produced 1,480,155 Tons of mangoes in 2020. Chaunsa, Anwar Ratol, Sindhri, and Dussehri are the most common varieties of mangoes produced in Pakistan.

Mangoes are the second most-produced fruits in Pakistan. Pakistan mangoes are regarded as one of the most delicious variety of mangoes in the world.

Pakistan has exported over $100 million worth of mangoes in the fiscal year 2020-2021.

8. Egypt

Egypt is one of the top producers of mangoes in the world. They claim the position of the eighth largest producer of mangoes by producing over 1,345,427 Tons of mangoes. The demand for mangoes is very high in Egypt.

Coastal areas such as Nile Delta and Ismailia are the best regions for mango farming in Egypt. The mangoes of the finest quality are produced in Egypt.

9. Bangladesh

Bangladesh claims the ninth spot in the list by producing 1,175,530 Tons of mangoes. The mango production in Bangladesh accounts for 3% of the total mango production across the world.

Bangladeshi mangoes are loved by the locals. Despite producing such a high volume of mangoes, only around $50,000 worth of mangoes were exported by Bangladesh in 2020-2021.

Rajshahi, Dinajpur, Nawabganj are the popular regions in Bangladesh for mango farming. Himsagar, Khirsapat, Ashhwina, Khisanbogh, Kuapahadi are some of the best and most delicious varieties of mangoes produced in Bangladesh.

10. Nigeria

Mango production has been rising in Africa. We have another African country on our list claiming the tenth spot. Nigeria produced 926, 156 Tons of mangoes in 2020.

Benue, Kaduna states are the largest producers of mangoes in Nigeria. Most of the mangoes produced in Nigeria are consumed by the locals.

11. Philippines

Philippines come at the eleventh position in the list by producing over 827,075 Tons of mangoes. The main regions for mango production in Philippines are Pangasinan in Luzon, Western and Central Visayas.

Mangoes are loved by the locals in Philippines. Mango is the national fruit of Philippines. Zambales mangoes that are produced in Philippines are famous for being one of the sweetest varieties of mangoes around the world. 

12. Sudan

Sudan is the twelfth largest producer of mangoes in the world. They have produced over 785,940 Tons of mangoes. Mangoes are one of the most important crops in Sudan. Mangoes are grown for commercial purposes in almost every state of Sudan.

13. Kenya

Kenya is another African country to appear on the list. They have produced 734,658 Tons of mangoes. Seven out of the eight regions in Kenya are used for mango farming.

The arid eastern region of Kenya produces more than half of all the mangoes produced in Kenya. Both the coastal and eastern areas of Kenya are used for the production of mangoes.

14. Vietnam

Vietnam takes the fourteenth spot after producing 725,306 Tons of mangoes. Most of the mangoes grown in Vietnam are grown in the southern region. Tien Giang, Dong Thap, Can Tho are the most popular regions for mango farming in Vietnam.

15. Haiti

Haiti is the fifteenth largest producer of mangoes in the world. They have produced 670,878 Tons of mangoes and earned this spot.

More than 100 varieties of mangoes are produced in Haiti. All the regions excluding the mountains are used for mango farming in Haiti.
