A university is a research and higher education institution. In different schools, universities provide both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

The national government funds modern universities, which rely primarily on tuition fees received from students.  International universities offer scholarships to international students.

Global rankings that measure university popularity and performance generate the top university grade. Teaching, research, citations, industry income, and worldwide orientation are among the topics covered by the universities, divided into five categories. Every year, the rankings improve and expand to include other universities.

The top 15 universities in the world can be found below.

1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

MIT is one of the best private universities in Cambridge, USA, and was ranked first in the world in the 2021 university rankings. This university has a great deal of research output. Architecture and planning, engineering, humanities, arts, social sciences, and management are among the five schools at MIT.

Around 20% of students participate in sports, and the university has one of the most competitive athletics programs in the world. On-campus, there are 12 museums and galleries. MIT sits on 168 acres of land.

Stanford University is in the second position with a 98.4 score. With 17,00 students, it is one of the top universities in the world. It is a private research university in California, United States of America. It’s been around for 135 years. The university is structured into five schools, each with 40 academic departments. 

On the main campus, there is a census-designated place. In addition, former US President Herbert Hoover, actress Sigourney Weaver, and golfer Tiger Woods are Sandford alumni. The cost of tuition is $56,169.

3. Harvard University

In academic reports, ETH Zurich has a world-class reputation. Chemistry, mathematics, and physics are just a few fields where the institution has made a name for itself. In addition, Zurich is home to about 32 Nobel Prize winners. Perhaps the most notable alumnus is Albert Einstein.

There are two campuses. The university hospital of Zurich and the University of Zurich is right across the street from the main structure.

7. University of Cambridge

Cambridge University is the world’s second-oldest university in the English-speaking world. It was founded in 1209 in the United Kingdom. It is the wealthiest institution in Europe and ranks seventh on the list in terms of endowment size.

The Cambridge Union is the oldest debating group in the world. It does not have a primary campus. The university is instead divided into several locations, each with its own set of departments.

It consists of self-governing colleges that have their property and income. There are 31 colleges in Cambridge. Only two of them admit women, and the majority of colleges are all male. However, some of them are a combination of both males and females.

8. Imperial College London

Imperial College is a university in London, England. It is a public research university that is ranked eighth among the best universities in the world. It was founded in 1907 by royal license. Imperial College London is one of the UK’s most international universities.

There are two academic centers on the campus. The Imperial College was ranked fourth in the world in the health category. Science, technology, medicine, and business are all majors at the college. It is known as the most innovative corporation. For example, it is one of the top ten contributors to NASA’s Mars Insight lander. The council is the governing body.

9. University of Chicago

With a score of 93.1, the University of Chicago is rated 9th among the top universities. It began as a private research university in Chicago in 1890.  As of 2021, 101 Nobel Prize winners have come from the University of Chicago.

There are 217 acres of land on the main campus. It has one of the gorgeous college campuses in the United States of America.

10. University College London

University of London

The second-largest university in the United Kingdom is University College London. The main campus is in the Bloomsbury region of central London. The university opened its doors in 1826. It ranks 10th on the list.

However, it has a long list of noteworthy graduates, including Mahatma Gandhi, India’s founding fathers, and figures from Kenya and modern Japan. The main campus is in the vicinity of Gower Street. The council is the governing body.

11. National University of Singapore

Singapore’s national university is a Singaporean research university. In 1905, it was founded. It is regarded as one of Asia’s and the Pacific’s finest universities.

12. Princeton University

14. Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, EPFL

15. Tsinghua University

It contains a museum with old documents, maps, artwork, movies, and music on display. It comprises 57 departments and 15 bachelor’s degree programs. Tsinghua University, along with the University of Cambridge and MIT, is a member of a low-carbon university partnership.
